The horses and ponies in the Pegasus herd require special training, and unfortunately, not every horse and pony is appropriate. When choosing horses and ponies for Pegasus programs, we first look for temperament and soundness. Horses/ponies typically come to Pegasus after several other “careers,” in which they have had the opportunity to develop the strong work ethic necessary for the program. Because the work they do is mentally and physically challenging, they require extensive training and conditioning to be effective members of our team.
