Pegasus Therapeutic Riding, Inc. is a nonprofit that provides equine-assisted activities and therapies to people with special needs. Our $1.4 million annual operating budget is almost entirely funded by donations. As an equine-based organization, the success of our programs is directly tied to our careful selection of “loaned” horses and ponies on a free-lease basis. Without free leases, the therapeutic services we provide to hundreds of people with special needs simply would not be possible.

 
In order to best serve our students, it is extremely important to our mission that our horses possess a suitable temperament for the therapy work they will be trained to do. All Pegasus horses must also be healthy, sound and able to consistently work at the walk, trot and canter.
