Amy O’Hara will discuss the importance of special needs planning, including special needs trusts, advance directives, guardianship, government benefits and the ABLE Act.
Amy is a partner with the law firm of Littman Krooks LLP. She lectures frequently to advocacy organizations and families on the importance of proper planning for families of children with special needs. Amy also regularly publishes articles relating to estate and special needs planning. She is a member of the Special Needs Alliance, a national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to assisting families with special needs planning.
Amy also is a member of the board of directors of Westchester Disabled on the Move, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of life and the rights for all people with disabilities. Littman Krooks LLP offers legal services in several areas of law, including elder law, estate planning, special needs planning, special education advocacy, and corporate and securities.
Steve Nieno will be speaking on key areas of financial planning that special needs families face – types of trusts, government aid and the use of life insurance.
Steve is Senior Director – Advanced Strategies with the Insurance Sales Consulting Group at Ameriprise Financial in Minneapolis. Steve works closely with Ameriprise Advisors who help families plan for special needs situations. He frequently meets with families to provide specific guidance on key financial planning tools, such as wills, special needs trusts and government aid options.
Joining Steve are Managing Director Daniel R. Masiello and Financial Advisor Robert Bouza of Masiello, Nicolosi & Associates, a private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial. Dan and Steve will work closely with the family attorney and accountant when necessary and are available for phone calls and in-person meetings.
