Volunteer Orientation - 1/12January 12, 2019
Saturday, January 12- 10am-1pm
Director of Volunteer Services Lynn Peters will be holding an orientation for new volunteers that includes clinics on horse leading, sidewalking and general volunteer responsibilities.
The goal of the sidewalker/horse leader clinic is to ensure everyone working with our horses and students knows and consistently uses the proper techniques. This attention to quality and consistency allows us to run safe programs and maintain the high standards we strive for as a PATH International Premier Accredited Center. We also want to make sure your important role as an assistant to our students is a rewarding one for both of you.
The sidewalker clinic will cover every aspect of correct sidewalking methodology. We will explore the physical aspects of working with our students, including performing emergency dismounts. The clinic also addresses how sidewalking relates to student behavior and student/volunteer interaction.
The horse leader clinic will be a practical, hands-on workshop in which we will work directly with our horses, address specific problems and standardize the way we approach our horse-leading practices at Pegasus. You will be working with other volunteers under the direction of our staff.
Lynn will also discuss all other volunteering opportunities at Pegasus.
Please pre-register by contacting Director of Volunteer Services Lynn Peters at firstname.lastname@example.org or (845) 669-8235 x109. We occasionally need to reschedule an orientation due to weather or other unforeseen factors, and we cannot contact you to alert you unless you have pre-registered. Please also check our Facebook page that day if there is bad weather. We always post cancellations there. Thank you for your cooperation!
