Haviland Hollow Charity Cup Raises $17K for PegasusSeptember 7, 2015
Sam Ramirez, Jr. and his wife, Fabiana, recently hosted the 7th Annual Haviland Hollow Charity Cup at their farm in Patterson, N.Y., to benefit Pegasus and our sister program, The Rider's Closet. The August 22 polo event raised more than $17,000 in net proceeds and donations for our two charities.
The Haviland Hollow Charity Cup was co-hosted by Sam and Fabiana, equestrian and Rider’s Closet founder Georgina Bloomberg, Emmy Award-winning director Cary Fukunaga and NuEnergen co-founder Kevin Hamilton. In recognition of her continued outstanding philanthropic support of Pegasus, Georgina received the inaugural Pegasus Benevolence Award at the event.
“The owners of Haviland Hollow Farm, Sam and Fabiana Ramirez, are true friends and benefactors of Pegasus and The Rider’s Closet,” said Pegasus Director of Philanthropy Pat Cavanaugh. “Their generous Charity Cup support gives Pegasus participants the opportunity to gain greater independence in their daily lives, and helps Rider’s Closet recipients realize their equestrian hopes and dreams. A real highlight of the day was presenting the Benevolence Award to Georgina—The Rider’s Closet wouldn’t exist without her. We can’t thank them all enough!”
Charity Cup highlights included exhibition polo matches, a gourmet luncheon for VIP ticket purchasers, a silent auction, and dancing under the tent with DJ Alex Richards, daughter of Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones. Proceeds support Pegasus’ mission to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities and challenges through equine-assisted activities and therapies, and The Rider’s Closet’s mission to provide donated equestrian apparel to pony clubs, therapeutic riding centers, scholastic teams and individual riders in need.
