*** We've posted our slide show -- see below and enjoy! ***
Hosted once again by the Richter family at Coker Farm in Bedford, N.Y., the 30th Annual Pegasus Horse Show on May 22 was a celebration of both individual achievement and the importance of teamwork.
More than 80 students with special needs demonstrated the horsemanship skills they practiced during weekly therapeutic lessons at one of our five chapter locations in Fairfield, Putnam and Westchester counties.
In the Pegasus tradition of inclusiveness, every student won a ribbon in recognition of improving some aspect of his or her technique. Special awards were given to several students and volunteers, as well as one beloved therapy pony.
Student Sam B. won the Michele Arnhold Most Independent Rider Award. Student Julia Simpson received the Robert M. Stein Outstanding Rider of the Year award. Student Nicholas Ippolito is the inaugural winner of the Ann Pinkerton Adult Rider of the Year.
Volunteer Sue Brubaker received the Peggy and Bill Larned Award for Most Helpful Volunteer, and volunteer Kim Dow received the Pat Bugg Award for Special Service and Dedication to Pegasus. The Libby Bartnick Award for Pegasus Therapy Horse of the Year went Pegasus Farm's biggest little diva, Dixie.
The 30th Annual Pegasus Horse Show was made possible thanks to the generosity of hundreds of supporters. This year, we raised a total of $101,560 for our programs, surpassing our $100,000 fundraising goal. Nicole and Tory Russo served as event co-chairs for the eighth consecutive year.
Many thanks to all who supported our event!
Thanks to fantastic photographers Sarah Corbin and Sarah Kennedy, who helped our staff capture thousands of images of the day, we have a great slide show to share with you! We narrowed it down to the best few hundred to make sure all of our students were included, so pull up a chair, relax and enjoy!
