Come to the Patterson Library on June 9 and meet Patti Burke, author of The True Story of Marty, Horse of a Different Color. The book was illustrated by Patti's son, Richie, who was nine years old at the time. Richie will also attend the event, and the visit will also include a horse-related arts and crafts project.

The book is about two horses, Marty and Sweet Pea, who were rescued several years ago. Marty has physical differences and Sweet Pea has learning challenges, as evident when one day a tree falls in the field, separating Sweet Pea from the rest of the herd. She finally makes the jump thanks to Marty's coaching.

The message of Marty and Sweet Pea is that we are all different in some way, and that success doesn't always come easily. A portion of the proceeds of this book will be donated to horse rescue.

Anyone interested in attending should call the Patterson Library at 845-878-6121 to register.
