Campers within the special needs population including siblings such as painting a real horse or making a Native American Horse Drum.
OVERVIEW OF EQUINE EXPERIENCE DAYS: Equine Experience Days provide horse-focused experiential learning to the special needs population with the inclusion of siblings. The therapeutic benefit of horses has been widely recognized. It is our goal to offer holistic, empowering and enriching activities all centered around the restorative power of horses with complementary horse-focused activities including gardening/nature, art and music. Team building, self-esteem, self-confidence, and empowerment are meaningful benefits of this holistic approach to our equine experience days.
HORSES: Participants will have the opportunity to ride each week. In addition, they will also spend time with the horses and develop horsemanship skills including leading, grooming and basic horse care.
GARDENING AND NATURE: There is nothing more powerful than the great outdoors. Participants will experience getting their hands in the soil through gardening, both planting and harvesting, as well as spending time grazing their horses and walking on the sensory trail. Fresh air, the warmth of the summer sun, and our beautiful scenic farm will allow for developing a deeper connection with nature.
MUSIC: Participants will explore and find their inner musician through participatory music with a focus on connection and comradery. Their music will be shared with the horses of course!
