Pegasus currently is developing a program to provide equine-assisted activities and therapies to the courageous men and women who have served in our country’s armed forces. Veterans of any age will be invited to participate in Pegasus Patriots, and prior experience with horses will not be required.
Plans for the program encompass a variety of options, including weekly one-hour sessions held in either one-on-one or small-group format, and one-time group sessions of two to three hours in duration. Activities primarily will involve unmounted (non-riding) interactions with our highly trained therapeutic horses.
Sessions will be customized based on individual goal sets, and safety, security and dignity will be essential components of the program. All Pegasus sessions are designed and led by experienced instructors certified by PATH Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, our accrediting organization).
Pegasus Patriots will be a great way for people with military service-connected conditions to expand their abilities while having fun. Every equine-assisted activity, from simple grooming to trust exercises to horseback riding, works to empower participants and help them rediscover their resiliency.
